Sri Lanka Association Hamburg e.V. was founded in 2005 and exclusively supports non-profit projects to improve the living conditions of people in Sri Lanka who have fallen into hardship due to the tsunami and other circumstances.
Families in rural areas are supported with the goal of securing their food security through their own fruit and vegetable cultivation by establishing the necessary structures and introducing ecologically sustainable farming methods.
We empower women by providing them with better access to education, information, and networks, as well as by providing measures that enable them to earn their own money and secure the livelihood of their families.
Our support is geared towards the needs of children and young people, making their start in life easier. This includes, in particular, better nutrition, good school infrastructure, and suitable learning materials.
We help disadvantaged people learn skills that will help them better navigate life and integrate into society. We support the exchange of Sri Lankan and German culture – both in a spiritual and material sense – through personal encounters and by promoting traditional dance forms and film productions.
We provide spontaneous assistance when people are in acute need – by providing food and other urgently needed relief supplies.
